Micro Analysis

In this essay I am going to analysis an action film clip from the punisher, it’s a fight scene that includes 2 men and a few flat mates. I will be writing about the use of Cinematography, Sound and Editing.

In this scene they used lots on camera shots like match on action, shot reversed shot. Mid shot and some close ups. All of these camera shots add effect to the scene because with out the shots it would just be a normal fight scene but with the fast paced camera shots it builds up tension and keeps you on your toes. Also using the camera shots its making you feel you’re in the room with the actors as they are having the fight. These camera shots make the viewers feel that they are in the action. When they barge into the flat mate’s apartment they are shocked and you see their expression because the camera does a close up on them one by one before returning to the action.

Most of this scene has been normal editing but with the pace of the editing it adds more drama and effect to the scene. In this scene it uses a cut away technique, which allows you to come away from the actual fight into the other apartment, were there occupants are dancing to music while their neighbour is getting thrown around his flat. The way that the scene has been edited it makes the viewers more involved the faced pace makes the fight scene feel more real and when the Russian hits the grenade back into the bathroom and it explodes they repeat the explosion from different angles this also adds to the tension because the actor is in the room with the explosion.

The sound that is used in this scene is very basic but its really effective because while the fight scene is going on you can hear the relaxing opera music in the background and you as the audience can hear it and you think it doesn’t really go with the scene until it does a cut away and you realize that the music is the other flat mates dancing while cooking and your watching them dance knowing a man is getting thrown around his apartment. There are also enhanced sounds coming from the punches that are thrown by the actors and when the knife is putting the guys shoulder there is an enhanced sound.

10 Favorite Films

1. Final destination. I chose Final Destination because i like the previous ones and i thought it would be a good choice because when watching the films u never know whats going to happen.

2. Hot Fuzz. This is a hilarious film that i can sit and watch over and over again, i think that both Simon Pegg and Nick Frost are great actors and even better when together.

3. Snatch. Snatch is a great film that i enjoy watching because of the way it is filmed and because its a macho film that u can really get into.

4. Lock Stock Two Smoking Barrels. I chose this film because its British film and i like how its a film u can just sit back and enjoy it for what it is, also i think Vinnie Jones does a great job in this film.

5. Smoking Aces. This film is really interesting and relates to snatch and lock stock 2 smoking barrels in the way they jump from many characters and i like that because u really have to focus on the film to understand.

6. Diary of the Dead. I really enjoyed watching this film, I'm not usually into watching horrors but this horror i found funny at the same time because of certain scenes. I also enjoyed this film because of the way it was filmed, it was all filmed as if it was one of the characters who was filming it and in one scene they find another camera and you see it through the eyes of the other camera and you get a scene were they are filming each other.

7. Happy Gilmore. This film is a great film and another that i could watch over and over again because Adam Sandler is a great actor and has made many great films but i think this early one is on of his best.

8. Step Brothers. Step Brothers is a funny film that once you watch you recite the lines back that make you laugh so much, i just think to grown men acting like 6 year old step brothers is just hilarious and would love to what again and again.

9. Just Friends. This film is a film that you either love or hate, i found it really funny and a joy to watch but some time i think it can be boring but overall i really like the film.

10. The Dark Knight. This film has to be one of the best films i have ever watched, the actors are amazing and the way it is filmed and edited is just mind blowing. I think that the fact that this was Heath Ledger's best film he had done and a shame it was his last, but i think that also gives the film effect because you appreciate it so much more, this is a great film that i could watch over and over again.
